TS4: 18 ports of EXTREME connectivity

It has been no surprise that the CalDigit Thunderbolt Station Dock 4 is one of the leading docks in the tech market right now but why?

In this blog, we give you a review on the performance and specs you need to add the TS4 swiftly to your work set up.

Introduction

CalDigit are a Californian-based hardware manufacturer and online retailer specialising in Thunderbolt and USB-C technology docking stations and storage solutions for the content creation industry. But we see CalDigit products being added to many work platforms in the tech industry due to its blistering capabilities.

What is the TS4?

CalDigit has unveiled the latest iteration of its popular Thunderbolt Station series in early February this year and to say it has been popular is an understatement. The TS4 Thunderbolt dock comes with an impressive array of 18 ports for both Apple Mac and Windows PC users to offer what the company calls “extreme connectivity.” The dock exhibiting this universal compatibility means whether you prefer working on a Mac, PC or both, you can easily interchange this dock to experience its flexibility between devices. While most Thunderbolt docks on the market offer 11 or fewer ports, the TS4 goes above and beyond with 18.

Why the TS4?

Just because the TS4 displays the most ports on a dock does not necessarily mean that its output could match that of its claims – but CalDigit have really provided a product to go beyond the needs of the user!

The TS4 features the fastest power delivery of any Thunderbolt 4 dock. A staggering 98W of charging power – ideal for those to charge your laptop or desktop whilst working. All TS4 USB ports provide up to 7.5W of power but the front 20W USB port is perfect for fast charging of compatible devices like phones and tablets through Qi.

CalDigit features

For the content creator industry, the TS4 is the solution to all problems. The dual port combination for SD and micro SD cards means this eliminates the need for additional adapters to easily streamline workflow as they can be used simultaneously.  Not only that, but users get to utilise 3 x Thunderbolt 4, 3 x USB-C and 5 x USB-A so you can daisy chain all your peripherals and accessories – both new and old. The USB ports on the TS4 are for data only so displays are connected via USB-C and Thunderbolt to support this.

Multiple high resolution displays can be achieved through the TS4; dual 4K displays alongside single 8K on Windows PCs and up to 6K dual displays on Mac. *Please note that the macOS users on M1 Pro, M1 Max, or Intel based Macs can connect up to dual displays whereas M1/M2 based Macs do not support dual monitors through their Thunderbolt ports. This is NOT a fault with the TS4 but is a limit with how Apple have implemented their Thunderbolt ports.

However, the leading feature of the TS4 unit is just a single port. CalDigit have included the fastest Ethernet port on any Thunderbolt 4 dock. 2.5GbE of lightning fast access to network shared resources allows editing from network attached storage or NAS - plus it is backwards compatible. Great for video editing, content creating, gaming and downloading anything extremely fast!

How to get the TS4?

Easy! As you may already know, the TS4 can be quite tedious to get your hands on but be quick as we only have a few remaining in stock so click here!

Why not check out our other CalDigit products? You can find all the Thunderbolt Dock and Hubs here to make sure they’re right for you. If you don’t need that many ports, why not try the OWC Thunderbolt 4 instead?
