Apple September 14th Event: Rumours

On September 14th at 10 am PDT (6pm for UK viewers), Apple will be hosting its first product-launch since April. Once again, this will be an online-only event.

In this post, we take a look at some of products that we expect to be announced.
iPhone 13.
iPhone 13 is pretty much guaranteed to be announced. There has been no shortage of leaks and reports on what this model could be like. So far, we know that that the phone will come in the same sizes as the iPhone 12 lineup: 5.4 & 6.1 inch for the standard model, and 6.1 & 6.7 inch for the "Pro" model.

Apple typically sticks to a similar design for three or four generations of iPhones before carrying out a radical redesign. For this reason, we don't expect to see any huge design changes for iPhone 13. Whereas we do expect to see the familiar square-edged design of the 12 series. It's been rumoured that new features will include camera improvements, faster chips, a smaller notch, and under display Touch ID.

Apple Watch Series 7.
Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted a "significant form factor design change" is coming to the Apple Watch. Apple leaker Jon Prosser has also made some predictions on the next Apple Watch based on anonymous insider sources. According to Prosser, the next Apple Watch will have flatter edges - similar to the square-edged design from recent iPad Pros and the iPhone 12 series.

Another design change we may see is an edge-to-edge screen. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, this year's new Apple Watch models could feature displays that go almost all the way to the edge of the chassis. We may also see some additional colour options in the new line up.

Airpods.
While analysts are confident in their iPhone and Apple Watch predictions, they're slightly less certain about a new version of airpods. Since their original release, we have seen a couple of variations of Airpods, including the noise-canceling AirPods Pro and the over-ear AirPods Max. However, apart from the addition of wireless charging for the case and a few other small changes,  the original AirPods have evolved relatively little. So, while there have been rumours about a third generation of AirPods, it remains uncertain what they'll look like or even if they'll be released at all.
Macs.
It's very unlikely that a new Mac model will be announced. Apple doesn't usually announce Macs alongside the iPhone at September events, opting instead to save those products for October, November, or even December. So don't expect new Macs just yet...

You can watch the event live, here. And make sure to keep an eye on the Megamac blog as next week we will be taking a look at what was actually announced!
